Notes from ROAR October Monthly Meeting

Hi Families!

We hope you all are having a wonderful weekend. Just sending out some follow-up notes from our Monthly Meeting that was held last Tuesday! Apologies in advance, this is a long one. But, on the bright side, it’s because there are so many great things going on in ROAR 😀

  • Thank you to Ms. Brewster and Mr. Kenner, who joined us to introduce a little about themselves and their roles in our school as vice principals, and to discuss their vision of successful family engagement in our community. We appreciate them taking the time to meet with us!

  • We are continuing to work towards launching our Parent Voices Project, which is an outreach effort designed to connect with as many families as we can in our school. Here are the different ways you could help (please let us know if you are interested!):

    • Project Lead (30-60 day commitment) to organize volunteers for support & Create/Manage General Timeline for Project Completion

    • Help write the survey/script

    • Volunteer to connect with and survey families

    • Analyze the data collected

  • We would love to bring the EL Haynes Food Pantry back! Permission has been given by the school to have space outside for a community pantry. But we are required to make it rodent proof. If you have skills as a builder, or would like to collaborate to create our structure, please contact us!

  • ROAR is looking to host its First Winter Clothing Exchange in early December. Please hang on to any outgrown coats, hats, gloves, boots, or any other cold-weather clothing. ROAR hopes to throw a celebration. If you would be interested in helping with the planning please reach out so that we can truly make a celebration to remember!! The date is TBD, but we will share as soon as we know when it will be.

  • The Cafe ROAR team put together a beautiful outdoor gathering of coffee, treats, and gifts for caregivers a few weeks ago. They are already back at it planning for November. Please reach out if you would like to join the team!

  • Our November Monthly Meeting will be held on Thursday, November 18, from 7-8pm on Zoom. We hope you will join us!

There is a lot going on and a lot of ways to be involved in our ROAR! Please do not hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or see something that you would be interested in joining. We would love to hear from you 💙💚💛
