Questions for Parent/Teacher Conferences

If you are like me, a lot of thoughts swirl around in your head about what you want to talk about with your child's teacher come conference time. We only have 20 minutes to meet and I want to make the most of every one of them. This year, I did some searching to find what are considered the best questions to ask teachers and I wanted to share the ones that have resonated with me.

There are lots of resources out there to find more/other questions. The website I found to be useful is The Applicious Teacher. Here is a recap of the questions I'm planning to ask:

  1. How is my child doing in the main subject areas?

  2. What do you believe are my child’s strengths/weaknesses?

  3. How do you prefer to communicate? (Email, phone, text, planner)

  4. What can I do at home to support what is being done in the classroom?

  5. How is my child doing socially? (has friends, includes others, being left out, etc.)

  6. How does my child contribute to the class community?

  7. Do you have any concerns about my child?
